This week in math. . .This week we will be finishing our study on addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers and regrouping. Monday will be spend practicing subtraction with regrouping and the Unit test will be given on Tuesday utilizing Schoolnet. We will move on to Multiplication starting with multiplying by base 10. This week in Spelling. . .This week's list consists of words that end with the suffixes -ed and-ing accused, slammed, tamed flipped improved clapped directed accepted setting soaring swimming moving dancing approaching vanishing giggling This week in Reading. . .We will continue to read the novel, Esperanza Rising. Monday a quiz will be given on chapters 1-4. After, we plan to read our way through chapter 7. We will also take a closer look at how author's choose to write in a certain Point of View. Social Studies. . .We are switching back to Social Studies. We are planning on reading and learning about the different Regions of North Carolina. Students will be reading and taking notes on various non-fiction texts.

This week in Math. . .This week in math we are moving forward to reviewing addition and subtraction of large numbers. We will explore two different methods - the expanded form method as well as the traditional method. I would like students to settle and perfect the traditional method since this method is the most efficient method to use. We will have our bi-weekly assessment on Friday. This week in Spelling. . .This week we will look at the Greek Roots: graph photo auto tele rupt This week in Reading. . .This week we will begin our novel, ESPERANZA RISING by Pam Munoz Ryan. We hope to complete the first four chapters. Students will be expected to learn 20 spanish words. The test is next Thursday. This week we will look at the lunar and solar ECLIPSES. We also will begin to review for our test on Thursday. Make certain to study at home!
On Wednesday we will complete our OREO COOKIE PROJECT. This Week In Math. . .This week we will work on comparing large numbers as well as rounding large numbers. The students will be working on a project that revolves around the three forms of numbers. PLACE VALUE FLAG. Students will need to bring a printed picture of their state's flag. (Their state of choice) There will be a rounding/comparing large numbers quiz on Thursday, a bi-weekly homework quiz on Friday as well as a timed 7 Tables quiz. Be Prepared!
