4th Grade Handbook Your child will receive a handbook to be reviewed and signed by both parent and student on the first day of school.

We will be following the Cleveland Star Discipline Plan. Please read the section on School Rules in the Parent Handbook on the school website to become familiar with the plan. If your child receives a tally, it will be indicated in your child's Agenda. Please feel free to respond to anything documented on the Agenda. This can be done by e-mailing us or write us a note. This sheet will help keep you informed about your child's behavior and work habits.

WEEKLY FOLDER TUESDAY FOLDER (BLACK)-
On Tuesdays, we will send home your child's work and any other informative papers.
Please sign and return all work or papers that indicates to do so and keep the rest at home.
Each week we will also send home your child's Weekly Report to allow you to be informed of how your child is doing with completing and turning in homework/classwork and overall effort with behavior. Sign this Sheet and make comments, if needed. Please return the weekly report in the Tuesday Folder on Wednesday.
ACCELERATED READER (AR) and ACCELERATED MATH (AM)- Every student will participate in both of these computer-based programs. In AR, Students will read books that are on their reading level and take comprehension tests on each book. Check your child's Agenda for their assigned book level and point goal. The number of AR points a student earns for a particular book is determined by the level of the book, the length, and the number of comprehension questions answered correctly.
In AM, the students will reinforce skills taught in class by completing math practices and tests that are assigned by the teacher and generated by the computer. It is scored by using a scan card. Their next practice will be determined by the student's individual needs.
HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS
Homework will be given Monday-Thursday. It should take approximately one hour or less to complete. Please check and sign your child's Agenda each night. We expect your child to do homework independently and to ask for help only after giving it his/her best effort. If your child does have trouble with an assignment, first check to see if he/she understands the directions. If your child continues to have difficulty, help with the first part of the assignment. If the problem continues, do not do the work for your child. Write us a note explaining what you believe to be the problem.
