WELCOME BACK! THE COUNTDOWN UNTIL THE END IS ON!
This week in Math. . .
PERIMETER and AREA!
This week we will focus on finding the perimeter and area of rectangles and squares. Most of the students are very familiar with these formulas, however, many continue to get a bit turned around when the formulas are mixed up or are in word problem form. Our goal is to iron out all the wrinkles this week! There will be a short quiz next next week to test the students' comprehension on these concepts.

This week in READING. . .
POETRY!
We will take the next couple of weeks to explore poetry. This week we will look into the elements of poetry and will analyze a few poems including the NEW COLOSSUS - the poem found at the site of the Statue of Liberty. We will also begin to look at the various genres of poems before we attempt to write a few of our own next week. It should be an exciting couple of weeks!
NOTE: Next week we will begin our EOY i-Ready exam in reading.
