This Week in Math. . .
This week we will begin STAR Time - a daily time set aside used for Remediation and Acceleration. Therefore our schedule will change just a bit. Please see "Daily Block Schedule" for the detailed information.
We are closing the door - for now - on arrays, factors, & Multiplicative comparisons and venturing into PLACE VALUE. Place value is the language of math. If a student isn't familiar with how our base ten system works, math can be like visiting a foreign land without the necessary language skills. Just as a person may feel lost and confused, so do many students feel in math without a firm knowledge of Place Value - - -
This week we will cover:
Place Value Vocabulary
Place Value Periods up to the Millions
Place Value - the value of digits depending on their place
We will also continue to review our 5's and 6's Multiplication Tables.
**NOTE** The results of the Unit 1 Test will come home in your child's Tuesday folder. Please go over the test with your child at your convenience. It proved to be a very difficult test.
