This week in math. . .
This week we will explore two more methods of solving multiplication problems. So far we have learned the Traditional Algorithm, the Distributive Property Method, and the Box Method. This week we will learn the Area Model Method as well as the method that is the most fun, the Lattice Method.
Of course all of these methods are taught to help the students gain a deeper understanding of multiplication. The students will be expected to utilize each method to attack and solve multiplication problems. However, in the end, the students will have a choice to use the method of their choice.
We will have our bi-weekly homework quiz on Friday.
Also, this week the students will be assigned SCHOOLNET HOMEWORK PROBLEMS in addition to their nightly 4 problems.

This week we will begin to read the Velveteen Rabbit. This is a very short novel, however, it is full of depth. We will expand our novel study utilizing two full weeks. There will be no reading tests until we are completely finished with the novel. However, your child will be expected to finish work at home that has not been completed at school.

WE are back to science once again. This time we will explore MAGNETISM! This week we will learn about the history of magnets, what is attracted to magnets as well as explore the North and South Poles of magnets!
There will be a test on our until the last week before Christmas Break. It will be an Open Notes Test. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that your child keep his/her notes organized and neat.
