This week in Math. . .
This week we will continue to dig deeper into various methods of multiplication. Last week we explored multi-digit multiplication by one digit utilizing the traditional algorithm as well as the distributive property. This week we will learn how to solve multi-digit multiplication problems by two digits using the traditional algorithm, distributive property as well as the partial product method.
Make certain you check your child's homework each evening!
We will not be taking any more multiplication tests. It is assumed, at this point of the year, all student should have their multiplication tables mastered. If not, practice will be expected on the student's own time.

This week in Reading. . .
This week we will be reading a non-fiction article: The Wild Life of Christian the Lion. This is a heartwarming article set in the 60's about two young men who "buy" a pet lion while living in London.

MARVELING Feeling great surprise, wonder, and admiration
PREDATOR An animal that hunts other animals for food

VENTURE To go somewhere unknown or dangerous
We will work an a SUMMARY, FINDING EVIDENCE to answer questions, and we will IDENTIFY THE THEME.
There will be an open text quiz on Friday. However, the vocabulary quiz will NOT BE OPEN TEXT. Please plan and study these words.
